Roland T. Woodson, Jr.

Associate

Roland is a native of Memphis, TN. His teaching career began in 2011 where he taught 4th and 5th grade students in Science and Social Studies. Throughout his teaching years, he was known for his insatiable passion for learning and his unique way of engaging students. He has been recognized by Chalk Beat and Memphis 901 for his engagement strategies and outstanding academic achievement.

After successfully completing several years as a teacher, he began his impact outside of the classroom as a PLC Coach, Assistant Principal, and Principal. During his time as principal, he inspired many teachers to teach the “whole” child. Roland believes every decision and action should be grounded in the wellbeing of children.

Roland holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Tuskegee University, a master’s degree in elementary education from The University of Memphis, and an instructional leadership license from Bethel University.

When he is not impacting education, you can find him on the pavement running miles or bonding with family and friends. He happily resides in Southaven, MS with his wife, three boys, and two dogs.
